We are "Cafe Terra" now!

H folks,

We have been meaning to change the name for quite some time. Finally we got off our butts and did it. The name Cafe Terra had been on cards for quite some time. We wanted the new name to convey that the cafe brought a number of eclectic recipes around the world under one roof. We also wanted the name to sound cool and unusual. Hence "Cafe Terra" - since Terra means Earth.

Before you ask - let's tell you that all good things will continue to be there. You will continue to find our personal involvement, the "neighborhood cafe" feel, and excellent dishes. And yes, Waffles are not going anywhere :-)

Regards,
Ranjeet and Riad

You know what, after reading all these comments, i had specially gone (asked 4 places for directions!) to Cafe Terra. And let me tell u, i was so disappointed with the way the whole place was turned out that we (friends and I) decided against eating there. And why i was disappointed:
1. place was smelling of stale non veg
2. there were cut vegetables in the fridge on the left of the counter and they looked like they'd been sitting there, cut, for at least 3 days
3. we walked around and no one asked us what we wanted
it was just... terribly disappointing.
I am leaving this note as an honest feedback and not criticism, because from the way u'd described the place it looked like something u love and i would too. but alas!

Dear Madhu,

Thank you for your feedback and we are truly sorry about your disappointing experience. Normally we get positive feedback and we were quite surprised to get your note. We will take it up with our staff about the issues you brought out. Please also let us know at what time (approx) and date you were there. That will also help us identify the staff that was there at that time.

Usually we are there in the cafe during the busy hours but we do step out to carry out our other work. However that's no excuse for our staff to neglect their duties. We sincerely apologize to you and to your friends and hope that you will not hold the grudge against the cafe.

Thanks and regards,
Ranjeet and Riad

P.s. We are publishing your comment along with our reply on the blog.

Hi Ranjeet/Riad,
I came across this link after it was posted in my community (espressophilia). Wanted to try out the cafe immediately. I did. Unfortunately, I should admit, that i was a little disappointed.
I kind of agree with Mr. Anonymous, the place is not ventillated and it was smelling of stale food. I was there on 20th Jan at around 6.00p.m.
Irrespective of this i ended up speding a good two hours over there and did have a nice time, without much of crowd n noise bothering me.
CAfe terra does have a lot to offer, if you could 'fine-tune' it a little bit, it would be "the" place to be.
I hope you take this as a constructive criticism.

Hi Ranjeet/ Riad,
I came across this link after it was posted in one of my communities (espressophilia).
I wanted to try out the cafe and i did. Unfortunately, i should admit that i was a little disappointed. I agree with Mr. Anonymous, the place was not ventillated well, and did stink of stale food. I was there on 20th Jan at around 6 in the evening.
Despite that, i ended up spendin a good two hours, away from all the crowd and noise which are there in other coffee shops.
Cafe Terra has a lot to offer if you could "fine tune" it a little bit. I am sure, like us, there are a lot of coffee enthusiasts out there who would want to try out the place.
Hope u take this as a constructive criticism.
Good Luck,

Hi guys,
I heard about this place from a few friends and I knew I had to visit the place.A friend of mine and me tugged along and I loved it.The Waffles in the Belgian breakfast were amazing.Heavenly to be precise. The sausage was equally good and was just right.I hope you guys keep up the good work. Whatever people say I don really care. For me my verdict is the final verdict. The only thing that this place needs is a lil more cleanliness.

As I posted elsewhere, you guys should get rid of the chicken susages.. get the real sausages and bacon.
We reached the cafe at around 9:30am and the staff was still cleaning up the place... the air was not very fresh (wouldnt go that far to say that it was smelling of stale food, but there was something missing.).. the staff was not looking fresh and pleasant... as if they were not expecting customers that early!
Food was tasty, except for the sausages... Coffee was good!

Rgds,
Bernie.

I too used to be a regular at Lekkerbek bu after two GFriday lunch visits there over the past 4 months, my friends and I decided against going there.

1. The first time we got there it was about 12.30 PM and there was an awful stench of stale fish in the air. And the staff said that they were cleaning up and not planning to serve lunch till 2.00 PM.

2. The second time we were there, some BIG continental favorites from the menu were gone and replaced by Thai curry and such instead.

And after I saw teh Cafe Terra board, I just assumed that the place had changed hands yet again. If someone had not sent my your blog, I would never have known or come back...Didn't want to crib - just wanted you to know that I used to really like the place.

Regards,
Suchitra

Hey Guys,
I like cafe terra coz it's quiet,i can be myself and feel at home.Coffee is good, love the pastas and i like the fact that it is not expensive. The waiters could be a little more friendlier and lack knowledge of the menu and beverages. As Sam pointed out,it would be great if the place could be well ventilated and if the ambience is improved. The pastry section is always empty and i would like to see some good pastries there.
Bon Appetit!
Cheers!

Hi,

I thought that you had a superior brand equity with the name Lekkerbek. It truly stands out among the myriad cafes that dot bangalore.Lekkerbek instantly provokes one's interests and actually encourages him to venture into your restaurant. I think you just needed to push the brand name a bit more aggressively but you preferred the easier way out !
